The Sea Ranch

I have a special place in my heart for Sea Ranch and Gualala, CA (about 100 miles north of San Francisco on the coast).  My grandma lived there for years, and I spent much of my childhood exploring the land, the beaches and the forest ravines of the north coast.  Back in October 2011, I celebrated my 30th b-day, and I couldn't think of anywhere better then to rent a home for the week.   As a child I took for granted what beauty surrounded me.  Now as an adult, I get it.  It's a place to get away from the busy suburban and city lives most of us lead.  The air smells like salt water and evergreen trees.  All you can hear is nothing mixed with the ocean waves.  The Sea Ranch homes are also noted for their distinctive architecture.  Many of the 1800 cliff/oceanfront homes were designed and built in the late mid-century. (and I LOOOOVE mid century modern homes!!)  Each house is unique, and the natural landscaping is beyond amazing.

The front entrance.  Talk about radical use of space and light.
View from the kitchen window.  See those deer just chillin out?

Our next door neighbor's ridiculously awesome home.  This pic only shows HALF of the house!
